Got some news for my fellow ZF fans, and much as I wish it were good, it's more sort of a "meh..." thing.

As I mentioned in HelloKitty's "Why is it so dead?" thread, it seems like every time the forums have come back to ZipperFish lately, I've run into unrelated computer problems. Last time this happened was March, and I wound up having to get a whole new machine as a result.

And it happened again middle of last week. Good news is that I may not have to pay to get it fixed because it's still under warranty. And luckily I have a laptop I can still do some things on.

It's still frustrating as hell, though, because the new comp was only six months old, and the laptop is obsolete enough that it can't handle streaming video for shit. With that in mind, I kinda have to pick which shows I watch. This means I'll probably only be around for the Friday show, and even then, how long depends on how much of a little biznatch my laptop is about it.

Right now, I'm really regretting not getting a Mac.

Macs are over rated! Don't tell Jim I said that. I thought you were going to give us bad news silly. Great you have a warranty. Hope you're not gone for too long. You & I are always the last ones standing on Friday nights. Nobody else can hang!

I'll be there when I can for as long as I can. In a way, it kind of works out that my main computer went bad on me when it did, because this is the one Friday this month when it's laundry night on a Friday. The more of the show I miss, the more likely I'll be to come back later and watch the recorded version, which I won't do if I think I was there but struggling to stay connected.

As for the computer, it turns out the problem was a failed hard drive. With any luck, the folks at Best Buy will have it replaced for me by the time I get off work tomorrow, and I can just pick it up on the way home from work.

And the warranty will work out, too, because I might not have to pay for more than labor. If it had just been a software or virus problem, it would have cost me $150 to fix.
