ok I have an I pod with 60 GB of storage,however my mac book has only 4 GB total of memory, so would all that music affect my mac book memory ?

No. Storage and Memory (RAM) are 2 different things. Unless you have less than 5 gig left of storage, then things might start to slow down.

RAM is temporary storage for your computer while its in operation (e.g. OS, things you're working on but haven't saved, active programs). It governs how much stuff you can have running at one time (at least to me, my comp hates it). It usually gets cleared once you turn it off.
HDD space is where everything's stored (unless on removable media) when the comp's turned off. As the Walrus says, if you have only 65Gb of HDD space remaining and then you dump all your music on it... well, you're gonna have problems.
Sometimes programs (at least on a Windows box) use HDD space for temporary storage too (known as Scratch Disk) so you gotta keep that in mind too if you have Final Cut, Photoshop etc.
